I am so excited to share my first quilting blog post! I started quilting almost 4 years ago and have made several lap sized and full sized quilts so far. The Fat Quarter Shop has the most beautiful monthly quilting kits and I am most drawn to the seasonal ones they make for Halloween and Christmas each year. This year I decided to purchase the Halloween Spooky box and I am so glad I did!
This year's box included beautiful fat quarters from Riley Blake and an exclusive FQS pattern, Driving Me Batty, to make this super cute bat themed Halloween table runner. Also included in the box was a adorable Meori, an exclusive Bat Binding tool and an iron on label to attach to the finished table runner.
The pattern was published in color and very easy to read and understand. The directions showed what sized blocks were to be cut from each fat quarter if you wished to follow the exact look of the model.
After I finished sewing the top I quilted the piece using a fabric I had in my stash for the backing and binding. I quilted around each bat in white thread and then used black to quilt diagonal lines.
I finished it just in time for Halloween! Now I just need to figure out where I will display it next year. Here is my FlossTube video where I share my completed table runner:
